History and Vision
Island Yoga Vista was established in Nanaimo in 1997, the first Yoga Studio in the area. It was started with strong roots in Integrative Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda. It continues to grow and evolve with connections to The Bihar School of Yoga and to Vedanta. The studio becomes more simplified and refined as its purpose becomes more specific and clear.
Many years ago Swami Satyananda Saraswati pronounced, “ Yoga is the culture of tomorrow and it will change the course of world events.” Clearly in our time we have seen the mass acceptance and influence of Yoga worldwide. I offer what I can to this movement by sharing Yoga, Ayurveda, and Vastu Shastra. I make an effort to live as an example of the benefits of these practices.
