Hatha Yoga is a method of preparing the system for spiritual awakening, but is is also a very important Science of Health. Since ancient times it has been used by yogis and rishis for the releif and elimination of all kinds of diseases and defects.

Yoga Teacher Training (200 Hours)

This Yoga Teacher Training is now in it's 22 year, the second year in Nanaimo, it runs every October. The curriculum and manual are from Integrative Yoga Therapy. This is available for serious students of yoga with no prior teacher training. Local and International students are welcome.

This course is a pre-requisite for our PAYTA teacher training program, and is designed to give students a strong foundation for continuing Yoga Therapy education. (other RYT200 teachers may also register in PAYTA)

The IYT  Yoga Teacher Training program gives students in-depth skills to teach Yoga as a vehicle for total wellness. Along with offering Yoga classes with a focus on health and healing to the general public, IYT graduates teach Yoga-based wellness programs in a wide variety of complementary settings including hospitals, businesses, and health care settings.

IYT teachers also develop special focus programs, such as Yoga for back care, depression, seniors, stress management, and many other health conditions. This program is registered with the Yoga Alliance as a 200-hour Teacher Training certification program (RYT-200). - Integrative Yoga Therapy

Professional Ayurveda Yoga Therapy Apprenticeship (300 Hrs)

This 300hr program is part of the full 1000hr Yoga Therapist Training, is also recognized as a 500hr Yoga Teacher Training. This advanced level program equips you with three distinct skills:

  1. To teach intermediate level yoga classes for the general population with a strong focus on Ayurveda
  2. To work with individuals in private sessions
  3. To develop wellness programs that can be applied to a wide variety of settings.

You will complete this year long Professional Ayurveda Yoga Therapy Certification in  a series of Modules spread out to offer time for digestion and assimilation. the program is taught in an experiential ashram like model. We make our meals together and learn skills as part of the daily schedule.

This Level 2 - 300hr Apprenticeship meets five times over twelve months in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, Canada.

About Island Yoga Vista

Island Yoga Vista was established in Nanaimo in 1997, the first Yoga Studio in the area. It was started with strong roots in Integrative Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda. IYV continues to grow and evolve with connections to The Bihar School of Yoga and to Vedanta. The studio becomes more simplified and refined as its purpose becomes more specific and clear.
