Welcome
“Hatha Yoga is a method of preparing the system for spiritual awakening, but is is also a very important Science of Health. Since ancient times it has been used by yogis and rishis for the releif and elimination of all kinds of diseases and defects.”
Hatha Yoga Pradipika
Welcome to Island Yoga Vista, this studio bagan 15 years ago on Vancouver Island, based on the teachings of Integrative Yoga Therapy.
We continue to grow in inspired directions including offering Ayurvedic Treatments, Massage and Bodywork Sessions and Energetic Healing. With a specialty in working with individuals yet still offering weekly yoga classes this studio has become a healing center. We have two massage rooms, an Art Gallery, a large studio used for dance and movement therapy sessions as well as Tai Chi and Chi Kung.
We have visiting faculty who are extraordinary in their disciplines including Medical Chi Kung, teaching Yoga to Children and Yoga Philosphy workshops focusing on all aspects of yoga including Vedanta.
In addition to this Sandra’s personal specialty is Vastu Shastra, also known as Shtapatya Veda or Vedic Architecture, which is the science of building, the first true ‘green building’ practice balancing home and business environments to align with natures harmony.
An Introduction to Yoga
Many years ago Swami Satyananda Saraswati pronounced, “ Yoga is the culture of tomorrow and it will change the course of world events.”Clearly in our time we have seen the mass acceptance and influence of yoga worldwide. It is our intention at Island Yoga Vista to offer what we can to this movement in the hopes of creating a future of peace and wellness for all and it is to this vision that we have dedicated our lives.
The Island Yoga Vista Philosophy
Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda both see the uniqueness of the individual rather than applying the same program for everyone. At Island Yoga Vista our classes are small and personal attention ensures that everyone is accomodated within their limitations as well as their full potential.
Encouragement is given to explore the practices in a way that will be most beneficail to the needs and aspirations of each person.
As well as seeing everyone individually we also provide time, before and after class, as well as regular events, for people to gather and meet others, as it is tthrough connection and a sense of belonging also that we return to health and wholeness.
